Sneed Carnley Funeral Chapel - Copperas Cove (formerly Viss Family FH)Joan was born on November 17, 1938 at home in Getzville NY. As a child, her family moved to Ocean City, NJ where her family owned Holtz Boat Works and Basin company. Joan was phone operator for Jersey Bell and that is how she met the love of her life, Don. She would connect him to his mother's phone in Ohio. Joan was an Army wife. She and her children moved from base to base until Don retired from the US Army after 20 years of service ending at Fort Hood. Joan and Don were married for 59 years. Joan and Don had 3 sons, Don Jr, Dwayne and Darryl. Joan's first job in Copperas Cove was at the Dairy Queen after she proudly got her driver's license. She then went on to work at Central Texas College for over 20 years. She loved her family and her church family at Holy Family where she had been a parishioner since 1974. She was very involved in several ministries and her favorite was Adoration. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her sons Dwayne and Darryl, her brothers Ron and Jerry and her granddaughter Lauren. She is survived by her brother George (Linda), her son, Don (Linda), her granddaughter Andrea (Joseph), her grandson Alex and four great-grandsons, Donovan, Bryson, Vincent and Edmund.
