Joan Kohler was a cherished friend of my mother during her time at Equine Meadows. Joan often called my mom her "buddy," and together they shared countless adventures around the Dallastown and Red Lion area. Their common interests-bingo, card games, and any small game of chance-brought them endless joy and laughter.
When my mother could no longer drive, Joan became her wheels, faithfully taking her to her beloved Dallastown Bingo. They rarely missed a night, and our family will forever be grateful for that simple but profound gesture. Joan, like my mom, valued independence, and the way they looked out for each other was truly special.
Joan was by my mother´s side on their way to Jerry´s-a tradition after poker-when my mom asked her to turn around because she wasn´t feeling well. Joan acted quickly to get help, and for that, we are deeply thankful. My mom left this world a winner at poker that day, and I like to imagine that on New Year´s Eve at the Equine Cove clubhouse, Joan won a bingo. I hope they are both together now, plucking the card players in heaven like a couple of pros.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Joan´s family during this difficult time. Her kindness and friendship will never be forgotten. Unfortunately, I will be in Denver, CO on business travel but knows she will have a beautiful sendoff.
