Joan M. (Hyde) Lavendier, 82, of New Bedford passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 in St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. She was the wife of the late Louis "Jim" Lavendier.

Born in Attleboro, a daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Kelly) Hyde she lived most of her life in New Bedford.

Mrs. Lavendier was a caregiver and prior to that she worked as an engraver for Robbins Manufacturing. She was active with the Relay For Life and the Loving Bees Relay Team. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and helping with hospice. She was a true Patriots fanatic and a Red Sox fan.

She is survived by two sons, James Lavendier of London, AR and Christopher Lavendier of New Bedford; siblings, Beatrice Green, Patricia Fontneau, Alice Savastano, Eileen Lee, Walter Hyde, Catherine Turley, and Eddie Hyde; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles and Ralph Hyde and Shirley Maynard.

Her memorial visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2018 4-7 pm with a memorial service at 6 pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or acsevents.org. For online directions/tribute www.rock-funeralhome.com.
