Joan M. McMillan, 94, of Auburn, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Sunrise Nursing Home in Virden.

Joan was born on April 8, 1931, in Auburn, to Clifford and Marie Hurley Ping.

She married the love of her life, H. Eugene "Nub" McMillan, in Auburn in 1952 where they established, and grew, McMillian Farms for over 50 years.

Joan was a proud member of Auburn Christian Church since 1942, where she was heavily involved in many activities and committees through the years. She was also a member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau, local 4H leader, and the Sangamon County Homemaker Association. Joan served in Pastoral Care at Memorial Medical Center. She enjoyed playing pinochle, golfing, spending time with family-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-and she proudly displayed her bowling accolades.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nub; her son, David; her daughter, Gail McMillan Behrends; her great-granddaughter, Addison Sharp; her son-in-law, Michael Kolenich; and her sister, Barbara (Gary) Workman.

Surviving are her daughter, Sallie Kolenich; grandson Aaron Mitchell (Sabrina) Behrends and their daughters Zoey, Lorelei, and Pieper; grandson Addison Michael (Allison) Behrends; granddaughter Ashley (Jason) Sharp and their children Addilynn and JJ; granddaughter Miranda (Austin) Peters and their children Allison and Hudson; granddaughter Madison Kolenich; and three nephews and four nieces.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 19, 2026, at Auburn Christian Church from 10–11am, with the funeral service to follow at 11am, officiated by Rev. Josh Mangano. Burial will be in Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm.

Memorials may be made to the Auburn Christian Church.
