I lost not only my sister but my best friend. For many years we lived apart as Joan was raised in her youth by a great aunt and uncle. During this time I was lucky enough to join Joan for many months and years. Later in life we separated again as I left for California but the bond was never broken. I will miss you terribly Joan.

I couldn't have asked for a better "older sister". She'll never be forgotten. I don't think there was ever a person who met Joan that didn't enjoy times with her. She was generous and caring and loved. I miss her.

Paul & Jean,
I often think of the old neighborhood. Your Mom was a definite icon. Always keeping a watchful eye out and protecting all of us at the crosswalk. Our families were close in our early years. Good memories. She will always be remembered for her concern and kindness to others.
God Bless,
Maureen Smiddy-Pallamary

I'm sorry to have missed the services. I will always remember Mrs. Minton fondly- as she helped so many of us children cross safely to St. Mark's school over the years, always with a smile! I hope those who greeted her upon her passing, perhaps some of the students who have gone before her, helped make her crossing over to the other side just as warm and full of love!

Her son Paul and I were friends at St. Marks school. I often spent time at his house in the early years. Mrs. Minton was very nice to me and always offered us treats. I remember she had a very nice laugh and was always so pleasant to be with. She and my mother were friends for many years.

Paul and Jean,
My sincere condolences to you over the loss of your mother. I remember Mrs. Minton for her kindness and warm smile. When you lived on Nixon St., I would go by to pick up our orders of Girl Scout cookies that she would store for all the members of our troupes. I also remember the plays at St. Mark's and her involvement in making them such fun and a great success. They were wonderful times and she was a wonderful woman. May she rest in peace.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Joan's passing. I was lucky to have her as not only my crosswalk monitor, but a dear friend of my mother, Muriel Hewitt. Joan was also one of the "Club Girls" which was a group of women, mainly from St. Marks parish, who would get together to socialize on a Thursday night every other month. I have vivid memories of Joan as one who would attend when the gathering was at my house. Hearing these women cackling while telling their stories while sipping "tea" is a sound I will always remember. At Christmas, they would make decorations. I think the Minton family will remember the Reader's Digest pages folded to form a tree then sprinkled and sprayed with glitter. Glitter was at times even stuck to our uniforms. My parents and Joan and Walter also had many wonderful times together vacationing with the group. Now they are all meeting again. Rest in Peace, Joan.
Love, Frances Hewitt McDermott

I remember Mrs Minton fondly as the crossing guard at St Marks School. I still live in the Parrish and often thought of her throughout the years when I would cross the street. She was greatly missed once she retired. She truly was a lovely Woman always kind and caring. May she rest in peace. Heaven definitely gained another Angel. her family is in my thoughts and prayers.
