Joan Mollicone-Lewis, 87, of Smithfield passed away peacefully on Saturday March 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving and dedicated family.
Joan was born in Providence to Augustino "Christy" and Mary (Piedolati) DiSanto. She is survived by her sister and brother in law, Gail (Di Santo) Carello and Anthony Carello, and her brother Chris "Coach" DiSanto.
Joan married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Mollicone who passed after twenty–five years of marriage. Joan married a second time to the late John Lewis and they shared many happy memories together before his passing in 2019.
Joan is survived by her son, Mark Mollicone, his wife June Mollicone; and her daughter, Susan Mollicone, and ex-son in law, Michael K. Glucksman. She is predeased by her daughter Lori Mollicone. Joan was the grandmother of Mark Jr., Amanda LaMountain and her husband Craig, and Victoria Glucksman, and great grandmother of Jack, Theo, and Layla LaMountain.
After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School, Joan earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Rhode Island College. Joan committed her life to assisting the elderly by working at various nursing homes throughout Rhode Island and retired from Horizon Nursing in Warwick, Rhode Island.
As a devout Catholic, Joan attended daily mass and said the rosary every afternoon. Joan used her faith, along with her family and friends as the building blocks for a fulfilling and meaningful life. She taught Pre-cana marriage classes, volunteered in St. Thomas' parish, attended many pilgrimages around the world, including two visitations to Medjugorje
Joan loved going for long walks, having Sunday morning breakfasts, traveling the world, day trips to historic New England places, and spending time with her extended family and friends. She loved the Providence Performing Art Center, and volunteered there for many years. After retirement she moved with her late husband to Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 9:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday morning, 8:30am – 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are invited to make memorial contributions to St. Philip School, 618 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828.

I´m so very sorry, to all who knew and loved Joan. Susan, you are especially in my prayers during this difficult time. I will always remember the good times that my mom had with Joan, as students at RIC and for many years beyond. what a wonderful friendship they had. Peace be with you.
