Joan "Arlene" Mzyk, 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at John Paul II Nursing Home in Kenedy Tx. She had been a resident there since 2017. She was born on March 30, 1930 and raised in Falls City Tx, Arlene was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church all her life.
Arlene graduated from Karnes City High School. She and Check married in October of 1951 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Falls City and they went on to raise their family there. In the late 70's, as her nest was emptying, Arlene embarked on her 2nd Career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She received her Degree and Certifications at Bee County College, Beeville, Tx.
She worked in several area doctor's offices and Otto Kaiser Hospital for a few years, until she found her true calling, School Nurse for the BEAVER NATION. During her tenure there, she was privileged to care for two generations of Falls City ISD students.
Arlene's greatest love, particularly in her later years, was traveling with Check to all parts of Texas, most of the US, and parts of Europe to spend time with their children and grandchildren. While traveling they also were able to pursue a rather unique, decade long, ministry as Procurers and Curators of unique items for the Annual Auction Fundraiser at the Holy Trinity Parish Picnic.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Annie and Johnnie Mutchler; her loving husband of 65 years, Chester (Check) Mzyk (2016); two sisters, Elneeta Mutchler and Shirley Lyssy; and her, brother Timmy Mutchler.
She is survived by her brother John Clayton Mutchler; four dear Children, Don (Donnie) Mzyk and wife Dolly, Steve Mzyk and wife Karen, Michael Mzyk, and Elneeta Sharpe and husband Leo. Arlene was "Mimi" to eight cherished grandchildren, fourteen loving great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will start at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, Tx. A rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
