Joan Pariseau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Joan Lou Pariseau, born March 7th, 1939, entered into rest on March 1st, 2025 only a few days shy of her 86th birthday. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Rosemary Yule, her husband Richard, and her brother John. Living relatives include her daughter, Kathy Lyles (Dell Lyles), and son, Stephen Geeck (Deena Geeck), her brother, William Yule (Lori Yule), and sister-in-law, Evelyn Yule. She is also survived by granddaughters, Megan Lyles (Allen Briley), Shebly Welton (John Welton), Robin Lyles-Willis (Alex Lyles-Willis), Laura Lyles (JB Young), Peyton Geeck, and great-granddaughter Ella Welton.

Joan attended Michigan State and graduated from Wayne State with a Bachelors in Education. Most of her career was spent as an elementary school educator, but she also worked as a real estate broker, waitress, business owner and sales clerk at Chicos. Over Joan's lifetime she gave generously to various charitable organizations, most notably to Saint Luke's Heart Exchange in Houston Texas. She spent numerous years volunteering both her time and talent to the Heart Exchange.

Joan adored her granddaughters. She would watch Megan compete in horseback riding from a very safe distance, scared to death that Megan would fall off. She enjoyed cruising around the Mediterranean with Shelby. She often enlisted Robin to help her cook some tasty food, both new recipes and old favorites. Joan was always happy to entertain Laura's friends when they visited Houston for a music festival. Her Peeps (Peyton) would give Grandma a proper manicure and learned that Halloween pumpkins always have to be happy, never scary. One of her greatest joys was to bake sugar cookies with Ella.

Joan loved arts and crafts and she was skilled at making beautiful stained glass pieces. For a time, she owned a stained glass business (Glass Works) in Houston Texas. Joan also enjoyed making pottery with her daughter and they would attend an art camp at Wild Acres every summer (one of her favorite things at camp was the dinner bell). Another passion of hers were her sports teams, especially watching football with her son. They were excellent fans, provided their team was winning.

She loved people, traveling, and parties-in Washington DC, she chased after a marching band. In Germany, she elected herself to direct traffic at Carnival. Joan loved all holidays and traditions--every holiday was to be celebrated in the "proper way" and the food always had to be correct. Joan was rarely angry and thought the best of everyone, however she would get mad at the bunnies when they ate her easter lilies. Heaven has gained a good one. We will miss her.

March 7th would have been her 86th Birthday. In Greenville, there will be a Rosary Service in the Chapel at John Paul II Catholic High School (3pm). Joan's favorite toddies will be served afterwards at the home of her daughter (420 Fountain Court, Winterville NC)

Her Celebration of Life will be April 19th from 1-5 pm at Grand Rose (19829 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas 77377)

I knew Joan for a very short time, but she was a blessing in my life. She was always willing to chat, always positive, and always had a smile on her face.

My family´s path crossed Joan´s when I was 11 years old in Buffalo New York. Over 20 years later we reconnected in Spring, Tx Joanie always could make people smile and laugh. For my dads birthday she got him a black and gold shirt that said my heart is in Pittsburgh but my ........is in Houston. That was printed on Oiler blue boxers. She was a special lady who brought joy to all those she crossed paths with. Hugs and Prayers to Steve and Kathy.

I enjoyed our time together playing cards and shooting the breeze. Glad she was able to stay with here long enough for us to create such cheerful memories. She will be greatly missed. Love to all the family.
