John O. Pujols (born Joan Oscar Pujols), 44, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri on March 11, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1981, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and immigrated to the United States with his father in 1993. John joined the U.S. Navy right after high school, serving proudly until 2004 on board the USS Detroit (AOE-4) before its decommission, and receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Though he did not pursue college, he was incredibly smart, well-read, and deeply engaged with the world around him. He had a profound appreciation for books and followed current events closely.
John had a sharp wit and a dark sense of humor, traits that made him unforgettable to those who knew him best. He was resilient in the face of adversity, overcoming challenges from a young age. Despite obstacles, he remained committed to pursuing his ambitions, always finding new goals to chase when something didn't pan out. He was proud of his children and spoke of them often. Even from afar, he was always cheering on his siblings' achievements.
John was predeceased by his mother, Belkis, who passed away when he was 11 years old. He is survived by his father, Johnnis; his brothers, Johnny and James; his sisters, Grace, Lissette, Elizabeth, Laura, and Maura; his three children, Zack, Zoey, and Mayella; and his Aunt Nancy, who helped raise him and loved him like a son. He is also survived by his grandmother, Juana, his uncles, and many cousins. His family loved him dearly and will miss him terribly.
In keeping with his wishes, a direct cremation will take place, and no formal funeral viewing will be held. The family will have a celebration of life memorial service on March 29, 2025, at his father's residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Gamers Outreach Foundation to honor John's passion for causes dedicated to provide comfort to children suffering with healthcare ailments, and his lifelong enthusiasm for video games.
