Joan Rush Obituary
Born September 1, 1932, in Easton, she was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Pittenger Blessing. For over 65 years, she was the devoted wife of Robert E. Rush who passed away December 12, 2017. They were beloved soulmates, greatest friends, and constant companions throughout their life together.
Joan graduated in 1950 from Phillipsburg High School with Stateliner pride. She was captain of the Phillipsburg High School cheerleaders in her senior year. Joan retired from Phillipsburg High School in 1984 after serving as Guidance Secretary for many years. Joan was a faithful member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. Together, Joan and Bob were members of the Sunny Seniors and organized many outings.
Joan's greatest joy was her family. She cherished the times she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Countless wonderful memories were made together, both individually and as a family, all of which will be treasured forever.
Joan especially enjoyed watching sports, both in person and on TV. She had a special draw to tennis, the sport her beloved son Bob played until he passed in 1991.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Jill Rush Geosits and her daughter-in-law, Joan Brennan Rush Lichtenwalner. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jeff Rush and his wife Pilar, Daniel Rush and his wife Kaycee, Lindsey Geosits Lee and her husband Charles, Emily Geosits Gillard and her husband Aaron, Michael Geosits and his wife Kaitlin, and Kevin Rush. Joan adored her eleven great grandchildren, Lee, Riley, Corinne, Vivian, Sutton, Josephine, Lillian, Pierce, Griffin, Nora and Rory. Joan was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mildred Blessing, her husband, Robert E. Rush, her son, Robert A. Rush, her son-in-law, Edward E. Geosits, and her brother, Kenneth Blessing.
The family is planning a celebration of life service at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local hospice organization or to a charity of your choice, in memory of Joan.

To ALL of Joan´s Family.
Our sincere condolences to all the family. Coming from Warren Street in Phillipsburg Joan was a neighbor a couple houses away.
ONLY Joan use to baby sit both my sister & I. Joan was always so "Special" to our family. We have a photo of Joan taking one of us in the little stroller.
