Joan Schroeder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 5 to Mar. 7, 2024.
Carmel - Joan E (Pauchnik) Schroeder, age 89, formerly of Murfreesboro, loving wife of the late James "Jim" Schroeder for 67 years, was called to her eternal home on March 3, 2024. She is survived by children, Sherrie L. (Norbert) Howell of St. Louis, MO, Debra A. (Greg) McKinney of Crossville, TN, Cynthia M. Schroeder of Fishers, IN, and Jeffrey J. (Irasema) Schroeder of Chula Vista, CA; sister, Mary (Willard) Mess; niece, Laura (Jerry) Gaudynski; nephew, Steve (Thersea) Mess of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, John J Schroeder of New Port Richey, FL.

Mrs. Schroeder was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of John and Hertha (Bathe) Pauchnik. She attended Lutheran High School and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. While studying medical technology, Joan was employed by a doctor's office as a medical assistant. She later enjoyed a variety of careers in the financial field. Joan was an avid bridge player and a favorite in the local Bridge Clubs.

She had a strong belief in the grace of God and His love for her. This was evident in her passion for helping others. She devoted time to volunteering at St. Thomas Rutherford Cancer Center as well as providing transportation for various women to visit their husbands in hospitals and nursing homes. She dedicated time to the missions of her church through various women's groups such as LWML, often holding officer positions. Joan enjoyed bible study, small group gatherings and Christian fellowship. She spent time supporting the education of her five children in Hamilton, Ohio, including many years as PTO president. Additionally, Joan enjoyed supporting new residents for many years through the Newcomers Welcome Club.

As a loving wife, she supported her husband through his long career with the Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis MN, Hamilton OH, Terre Haute IN, and Murfreesboro TN. She was proud of his hiking and trail designer days and his volunteer activity at Stones River Battlefield. The Schroeders set a good example of what a God-centered, loving marriage looked like. They will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Rd, on Thursday, March 7th at 2 PM. Private burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Chris & I loved Joan & Jim very much and attended church with them for many years. Joan had a wonderful smile and was a friendly loving person. They both loved the Lord so much and created a legacy with their volunteerism. We give thanks to God for connecting us in this walk of life. May the Lord provide peace and comfort to the family.....
