Joan Gloria Smith, 91, of Tallmadge, passed away on September 23, 2025. She was born in Youngstown on July 30, 1934 to the late Erle and Rosalie {Davies} Edwards.
On July 12, 1962 she married Donald L. Smith, and they shared 56 wonderful years together before his passing July 21, 2018.
Joan is survived by her loving children Sandy (Steve) Russell, Dennis (Mary Ann) Brazelton, David (Amy) Brazelton, Rick (Michaele) Brazelton, Kim (Joe) Clark, Kandance (Franke) Zollman; special sister Gail Edwards; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband Don, Joan is preceded in death by her son Rob Brazelton.
Joan worked at the Akron Chamber of Commerce, AAA and JCPenney's, while remaining a devoted wife and mother. She always loved a good book, a cold glass of wine, and especially holidays with her family. Gatherings with the whole family were her favorite thing to organize, and some of her dearest memories were spent out at Lake Milton.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Monday, September 29th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. She will be privately laid to rest in the mausoleum at Rose Hill Burial Park with Don.
