BEAVER DAM – Joan Mays Thomas, 84, of Beaver Dam, passed away July 19th, 2025 at Ohio County Hospital. She was born in Scottsville, Kentucky on March 2nd, 1941 to the late Willie Burton and Edna Minnix Mays.

Joan married the love of her life, Lattie Thomas, on June 30th, 1962. Her life was devoted to the Lord and her family. She taught children’s Sunday school classes for many years. She was a charter member of Pathway Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lattie D. Thomas and her son, Jeff Thomas.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Stacy Thomas; daughter, Karen Ann (John) Chinn; grandchildren, Jonica (Josh) Lellie, Lydia Thomas and Draven Hill; great-grandchildren, J.D. Lellie and Anna Rose Lellie; and brothers, Ralph (Nancy) Mays, Carl Willie Mays, Jimmy (Dawn) Mays; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Ohio County along with Dana Milligan, Dr. Gregory and Ohio County Hospital for their care, compassion and support for our family since the first of March for both of our parents. Deepest thanks to the special friends that became family during the care of our parents, Dana Render, Vada Stewart, Jennifer Shrewsbury and Thelma Renfrow.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 26th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Buck Daugherty presiding. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Old Main St., Hartford, KY 42347.
