Joan Marie Tippett

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Tippett, aged 88 of Lusby, Maryland, on April 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength touched the lives of all who knew her. She always put others first.

Born on April 1, 1937, Joan was a lifelong resident of Maryland. She had a sharp wit, and a deep love for her family and friends. Joan, after raising her seven children, went back to school, earning her Paralegal Certification, while enjoying a career with the Department of Justice until her retirement in 2002.

Her family meant everything to her. Joan is survived by her children Marie Snyder, Joseph Tippett (Stephney Drinkard), Dorothy Nielsen, Thomas Tippett (Rhonda Jackson), Gordon Tippett, Carole Shegogue (Bill), Dina Windsor (Duane), 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Tippett, Sr., her parents George and Mary (Lincoln) Redding, her siblings, and granddaughter Brittany Windsor.

Joan's legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she shared so freely. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life will be held on April 23, 2025 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, located at 1601 W. Mount Harmony Road Owings Maryland. Flowers can be sent to the church.
