Joan Eileen Walsh died August 10, 2022 and was born Oct. 10, 1935 in Buffalo, NY to Laverne and Ivey Quemby Terreberry. She married Lester James Kaufman Oct 17, 1953. Joan was a homemaker and moved from Alden, NY to Venice, FL in 1967 with her husband Lester and 4 children. Lester passed away in 2000. She then married Thomas Raymond Walsh, Jr. in March of 2001.
Joan loved aerobics and took classes for 40 years at the YMCA. Her grandkids where the light of her life. She worshiped at First Church of God in Venice for 55 years where she played the piano and organ.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Walsh, son-Mark (Doris) Kaufman of North Port, son-James Kaufman (Cathy Bruce) of Nokomis, son-Dennis (Dawn) Kaufman of Venice, daughter-Darlene (Paul) Deao of Venice, grandchildren-Josh (Jennifer) Kaufman of Indianapolis, IN, Daniel Kaufman of Venice, Jason (Brittni) Kaufman of Venice, step grandchildren, Brian (Christina) Kolke of Jacksonville, Shaun (Sarah) Kolke of Lakewood Ranch, Amanda Proper of Iowa, Thomas (Leah)Walsh of Sarasota and a sister Helen (Dick) Rider of Sumter, SC. She also has 22 great granchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Lester James Kaufman, her parents Laverne and Ivey Terreberry and sister Hazel Dabb of Marilla, NY. A visitation for Joan will be held at the First Church of God South Venice on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 9:30AM-10:00AM with the funeral service to follow. Interment will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer s Foundation. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Joan in my Dance Aerobic class. She came to my class when I first started teaching.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Joan was a friend of my mom's when i was a small child. So when they hung out, i hung out. I remember her smile & her laugh. After all these years. She will be remembered fondly by me.
