Joan Hochuli Weeke, aged 87, passed away peacefully on the 9th of November, 2025, in Sachse, Texas, enveloped by the love of her cherished family. Born on March 18, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, Joan was the vibrant spirit in the lives of her parents, Fred and Anna (Mansholdt) Hochuli, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her beloved husband, Roy Weeke, and her siblings Sonny and Bud Hochuli, and Dorothy Ledford.
Joan's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. She and Roy were married on June 28, 1958, and for 56 years they created a legacy of love and happiness. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Lisa Linebaugh and Lesley Naguib, who, along with their spouses Jason and Karim, brought joy and purpose to Joan's life.
The family tree continued to flourish under Joan's nurturing care, with the addition of grandchildren Brennan & Cindy Settles, Krystal & Josh Decker, Zack & Hannah Settles, Zach & Emily Linebaugh, Courtney & Andrew Brinson, Xander Naguib, and Karley Naguib. Joan's heart swelled with pride and love for her great-grandchildren Austin Decker, Casey and Luke Settles, Beau, Logan, and Reese Linebaugh, and Kennedy, Reagan, and Parker Brinson. Her sister-in-law, Ruth Hochuli, along with her niece, Cyndi Maag and her husband Derek, and nephew, Bill O'Neill and his wife Libby, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ruth & Earl Weeke and their family, also survive Joan. A host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends and loved ones complete the tapestry of Joan's well-lived life.
Joan worked as a secretary at Blue Cross and Blue Shield. However, it was her role as a mother where Joan truly excelled, often referred to by her children as "the best mom ever," a title she wore with humility and grace.
Joan's interests were a reflection of her love for life and family. She looked forward to talking to her best friend and precious sister-in-law, Ruth, as it was always the highlight of her day. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos, activities that sparked laughter and competitive spirit during family gatherings. In quieter moments, Joan found solace and inspiration in reading biographies, delving into the lives of others with the same compassion and interest she extended to everyone she met.
The word "loving" is an understatement when describing Joan. She was the embodiment of love in action, always putting others before herself and nurturing the bonds that held her family together. While her presence will be profoundly missed, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt.
