Joan Willisch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by VanInwegen-Kenny Inc Funeral Home - Monticello on Nov. 6, 2025.
Joan E. Willisch, born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 30, 1934, passed away, peacefully, in Middletown, NY, on November 4, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Joan is predeceased by her loving husband, J.Kenneth Willisch, her parents Ethel and Frank Wilson, her brother Frank Wilson, her mother in law, Elsie Willisch and father in law, Hans Willisch.
Joan cherished consistency and routine, grounding her family in tradition. She was a devoted wife to J.Kenneth Willisch and for years looked forward to seeing him again. She was a beloved mother to Kenneth, who, alongside his wife Colleen, ensured Joan's final years were filled with dignity and love.
Joan is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kenneth, Ashley, Cathryn (m.Hector) and Patrick, and two perfect, great-grandsons, Ethan and Hudson. She also leaves behind her best friend, Lynn Werbeck, who she stayed connected with from grade school and even into their 90s.
In Joan's early years, she loved living in Brooklyn and Queens. She especially took pride in her role as a young woman working for the telephone company, though perhaps her favorite part was the end of the work day when she'd often join her friends to play piano at NYC bars, visit art museums, go ice skating, or attend Broadway shows. Eventually, Joan, Ken and their son left the city for slower life in Brewster, NY. They would later move to Monticello, NY to live closer to family and to enjoy the quiet and routine of retired life.
Joan made each family member feel special, celebrating every occasion with heartfelt cards and calls. She didn't even miss Valentine's Day. She embodied propriety, grace and strength.
Joan will be dearly missed but her legacy lives on in her loving family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a funeral service starting at 12pm at the funeral home. Pastor Seth Switzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
