Joan Gertrude Wurzer (Stommel), age 88, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Newcastle, California.

Born on August 3, 1937, in Hammond, Indiana, Joan was the daughter of Joseph and Martha Stommel. She grew up alongside her siblings Arthur Stommel, Donald Stommel, and Marilyn Letsinger, all of whom preceded her in death.

Joan spent the majority of her life in Fair Oaks, California, where she built a fulfilling life both personally and professionally. Over the years, she worked as a secretary and later as a realtor-roles that reflected her dedication and strong work ethic.

She was a devoted mother to her four children: Thomas Beal, Timothy Beal, Robert Beal, and Carol Salci. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Briana Stanton, Bobby Beal, Kayla Beal, Natalie Salci, Kaitlyn Salci, and Jack Beal.

Joan had a lifelong love for horses and found joy in playing the piano and dancing. These passions brought color to her days and were a source of delight for those around her. Her faith was also an important part of her life; she was a member of St. Mel's Church for many years.

Joan's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery & Funeral Center 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights, CA 95621
