Joan Marie Zupan of Putnam Valley, NY passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born in Bronx, NY on April 10, 1938, the daughter of Anthony and Theresa (Iandoli) Casabona.
Joan Marie graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. On June 4, 1960 she married James E. Zupan at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Vernon, NY. Joan Marie enjoyed stamp and coin collecting. She loved the Christmas Season, Hallmark Christmas ornaments and Hallmark movies.
She is survived by her husband, James with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage this past June, her son Edward and wife, Regina of Mahopac, NY; her brother, Patrick Casabona of Katonah, NY; her sister, Kathleen DiRusso of Mahopac; her granddaughters, Nikki-Anne Zupan, Christina Mogrovejo and her husband, Brandon and Rachel Burtt and her husband, Jonathan, all of Mahopac as well as her great grandchildren, Santiago and Luciano. She was predeceased by her brother, Bartholomew.
Visiting will be held on Monday, September 15 from 4-8 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 16 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac with entombment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
