JoAnn Arnold, age 81 of South St. Paul, MN passed away with family by her side on July 27, 2025 from Alzheimer related complications.
Funeral services will be 1 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Newport Lutheran Church 900 15th Street; Newport, MN 55056 with a visitation an hour before service from 12-1 PM. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 3400 Century Avenue North, Mahtomedi, MN. Following burial, a luncheon will be held at Newport Lutheran Church.
JoAnn was born on September 28, 1943 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Hugo and Cecilia (Dorow) Maaske. She was married to Martin Arnold for 52 years. JoAnn worked at St. Paul Fire Marine and over 30 years at Lincoln Center Elementary. She enjoyed traveling, reading and hosting family events. She will be deeply missed by many.
JoAnn is survived by her son Brett (Diane); granddaughter Miranda and her faithful animal companion Ranger who all lovingly cared for JoAnn during the past two and a half years; siblings Lucia Gebhardt, Joyce Dominguez, Richard Maaske and James (Aleta) Maaske and several nieces and nephews. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents Hugo and Cecilia Maaske; her husband Martin, and sister Lois Mortensen.
Memorials can be directed to Newport Lutheran Church in Newport, MN.
