Joann Bristol

Joann Bristol, 89, of Hayesville, was called home by her Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Joann worked side by side with her husband farming burley tobacco and trellis tomatoes. She was also an avid gardener and her pride and joy were her beautiful flower beds and well-tended vegetable garden. Joann loved cooking for her family and friends. Her kitchen was always a place of warmth, love and good food.
She was the daughter of the late Neal and Rose Anderson Ledford and the wife of the late Richard Evans Bristol, who passed away on Dec. 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by nine siblings, Christine, Norine, Lucille, Edward, Edith, Bobbie Jane, Jack, Gene and Polly.
Surviving is one daughter Debra Bristol Puckett and husband, Robert, of Hayesville; one granddaughter, Juli Woody Joyce Overlin and husband, Stacey, of Hayesville; two great-granddaughters, Abby and Marlo Joyce. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiating. Interment will be in Hayesville Baptist Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stacey Overlin, Tim and Will Patterson, Terry Woody, Donnie Davenport, and Jason Rhinehardt.
The family will receive friends from 3-3:50 p.m. Saturday, August 23 at Ivie Funeral Home Hayesville prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Joann Bristol to Hayesville Baptist Presbyterian Cemetery, at United Community Bank.
