Ms. JoAnn Ruth Davis Carter, age 84, of Baxley, Ga has passed over to be reunited with her husband, son, daughter, and grandchildren on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Pavilion. Even though the family members she leaves behind will miss her terribly, they all know she was ready and happy for this reunion.
Ms. Carter was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She was born and raised in Baxley and Appling County. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of Carter’s Chapel.
Ms. Carter is preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Carter; two children, David H. Carter and Rita Faye Carter Johnson; three grandchildren, David J. Carter, Jeffrey K. Eason, and Mandy N. Courson; her parents, Joe and Irene Davis; and seven siblings, Fonnie Mae Rowell, Ann Gurley, Howard Davis, Earl Davis, Beluah Crosby, Ulah Davis, and Clara Lee Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Carter Eason (Richard) of Newnan and Bonnie Carter (Randy) of Baxley; seven grandchildren, Richie Eason of Newnan, Jessica Johnson of Jacksonville, Fl, Justin Johnson of St. Augustine Fl, Tina Carter of Baxley, Ashley Carter of Baxley, Sandy Carter of Baxley, and Chat Carter of Statesboro; extra grandchildren, Tammy Hardwick Hall of Dallas, Ga and Edwin Williams of Hazlehurst, Ga; fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; and three sisters, Charlene Lynch of Baxley, Carolyn Weaver of Baxley, and Retta Norris of Lawtey, Fl.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. from Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andrew Kersey and Reverend Darrell Weaver.
Interment will follow in the Omega Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.
Active Pallbearers are Richie Eason, Justin Johnson, Aaron Weaver, Edwin Williams, Mark Kamalakis, and Patrick Carter.
Honorary Pallbearers are Cody and Harley Griffin, Trevor and Tiffany Kamalakis, Keith and Jade Dyal, Randy Weaver, Ricky Weaver, Dr. Orlando, Yolonda “Lasonja” Thomas, Dorothy Howard, Amber Trent, Shawna Bennett, Dorianne Smith, Debbie Tomberlin, and Sheila Murray.
The family will be gathering at Mrs. Carolyn Weaver’s House at 1147 Thornton Rd Baxley, Ga 31513.
