Joann Chacon, 83 of Espanola, NM, unexpectedly passed away on February 4, 2024. She was born on January 27th, 1941, to Juan and Ignacita Chacon.
She retired from CYFD as a Home Caretaker for the elderly. After retiring from CYFD she stayed home to care for her sister, Sandra Chacon, who she loved dearly.
Joann was a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who was a loving soul with a pure heart. She was loved unconditionally by her family and friends. She was known for her selflessness, she gave without expecting recognition, the ability to see the good in everyone, she loved to love and care for others. She was the light to her family, in which family was the most important thing to her. She woke up every morning with a carefree personality, loving to randomly sing and dance. She adored spending time with loved ones, which was always filled with laughter from her silly jokes and sense of humor. She was a simple lady who found joy in the little things like having her sweets, Dr. Pepper, “puffies” (cigarettes), and beyond thrilled if you stopped her for The New Mexican.
Joann was preceded in death by her daughter Gina Lucero, brothers Bobby, Melvin, and Leroy Chacon, sister Belen Garcia, sisters in law Liz and Theresa Chacon.
She is survived by daughter Jackie Chacon, granddaughter whom she raised Angel Chacon, son Mike Willette, grandchildren Daniel Lucero and Amanda Lucero Moya, Robert, Jacob, Tianna Garcia, Axel Zamarron, Jordan Garcia, great grandchildren Lucas, Izaias Trujillo, Amberly Esquibel, Elias Zamarron, Ezekiel Estrada, dear friend of many years Janice Atencio, and several nieces and nephews.
Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at The Rock Christian Fellowship in Espanola, NM. Burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde, NM. A reception will be held at The Rock Christian Fellowship following the burial.
Pallbearers are as followed: Robert, Jacob and Jordan Garcia, Lucas and Izaias Trujillo and Diego Estrada.
Joann will be greatly missed by her family. Our broken hearts find comfort and peace in knowing that she is in heaven and reunited with her loved ones.
