Joann Fernandez Obituary

In Loving Memory of Joann C. Fernandez April 30, 1958 – December 8, 2025
With gentle hearts and grateful memories, we celebrate the beautiful life of Joann C. Fernandez, who slipped peacefully into the arms of her Savior on December 8, 2025, at the age of 67. Born to Guadalupe and Adela Fernandez on April 30, 1958 in Lockhart, Texas. Joann lived a life full of love and service. For more than 25 years she worked as a beloved dialysis technician, and for over 20 years she served as a devoted CNA and medication aide. She didn't just care for her patients; she truly cared about them. She listened to their stories, held their hands, and brightened even the hardest days with her warm smile and gentle spirit. One of her sweetest memories was the resident who patiently taught her to crochet; from that day forward, everything she made carried a little extra love stitched into it. At home, Joann found simple joys that made her light up: reruns of "Golden Girls", the thrill of a good tennis match on TV, and the quiet satisfaction of creating something beautiful with yarn and a hook. Above all, she cherished her family and the precious time spent together. Joann is now reunited in heaven with those who went before her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness carried on by those who loved her most: her dear mother, Adela Fernandez; her loving sister, Sylvia Fernandez; her adored nieces, Lisa Marie Fernandez and Vanessa Ann Fernandez; and a wide circle of coworkers, patients, and friends who were blessed to call her family, too. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at DeLeon Funeral Home in Lockhart, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Daryl Haywood. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Ramiro Tarazona Jerez officiating. Joann will be laid to rest immediately following at San Pablo Cemetery. Thank you Joann for teaching us that a caring heart is the most beautiful gift anyone can give. We love you, we miss you, and we'll see you again.
