Joann Marie Foldenauer, a pillar of strength and support for her family, passed away on July 6, 2024, at the age of 87 in Ann Arbor, MI. Born on May 12, 1937 in Durand, MI, Joann's life was a tapestry woven with perseverance, love, humor, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Joann (aka "Cuddles") met her husband Bob (aka "Muscles") at the Fenton Square Dance and were married on April 27, 1957. Together they had five children, Penny, Paula, Carlene, Robert, and Jason (Denise). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Katie, Emerson, Riley, and her great-grandson Tucker. Joann now joins her beloved husband Robert Foldenauer who predeceased her on June 22, 2022, after sharing a full and beautiful life together. She is preceded in death by her daughter Penny Foldenauer, her son-in-law Robert Castillo, her parents Harvey and Irene King, and her brother Max King.
Joann's life was a testament to the joys found in everyday moments. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, filled with the sweet aroma of her famous pies and Sunday dinners. Joann crocheted countless afghans for her family, which was a symbol of her warmth and love for them. Her family fondly jokes that she is the family OSHA official, a nod to her unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of her loved ones.
She enjoyed the comforts of home and the company of her family and close friends. She often reminisced about the memories of her childhood that left a lasting impression on her. She had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed telling the stories of her life. Her influence extended beyond the walls of her home, often checking in with friends and family to ensure all was well. Joann's life was a reflection of the values she held dear: family, friendship, and the simple pleasures of life.
As we celebrate a life lived with love and purpose, her memory will continue to encourage and guide us. Joann Marie Foldenauer will be profoundly missed and her legacy will endure through the lives she touched.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, (small church) 1991 N. Hacker Rd, Howell, MI 48843. Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery immediately following Mass.
