JOANN GANGEL JoAnn (nee' Raley) Gangel, age 88 years, of Louisburg, Kan, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kan. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 606 S Elm Street, Louisburg. Burial will follow at the Rockville Cemetery, Louisburg. JoAnn was born on July 24, 1936, in Louisburg to Joseph Miles and Garnet Marietta (Stowe) Raley. She grew up in and attended school in Louisburg, graduating from Louisburg High School with the class of 1954. JoAnn was united in marriage to John Gangel on August 18, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg. They had five sons: David, Mark, Tim, Greg, and Jamie. JoAnn was a devoted mother who cherished the time raising her family. When her sons were grown, she worked at Country Cuzzins Home Furnishings in Louisburg before retiring. JoAnn enjoyed reading, bird watching, and flower gardening. In earlier years, she was a skilled oil painter and also created beautiful stained-glass art pieces. JoAnn was joyful, selfless, and positive, even when her health declined. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Raley, Helen Thomas, and Beverly Goss; and grandson, Taylor Gangel. JoAnn is survived by her husband of 68 years, John Gangel; five sons, David (Elaine) Gangel, of Leawood, Kan, Mark (Whitney) Gangel, of Louisburg, Tim (Lisa) Gangel, of Valley Center, Calif, Greg (Michelle) Gangel, of Olathe, Kan, and Jamie Gangel, of Liberty, Mo; and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends.
