Joann Githens, 73, of Rochester, New Hampshire passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at her home. Born on September 24, 1951, in Riverside, New Jersey; she was the beloved daughter of Howard Githens and Florence Henzler. Joann graduated from Palmyra High School in 1969.
Joann made her way from New Jersey to New Hampshire, where she met the love of her life, Robert Colwell, with whom she shared 35 wonderful and loving years.
Joann was truly a selfless woman. She helped everyone that she could, and would always take care of everyone in her life. She loved volunteering at her special thrift shop, as well as going to both antique shops and thrift shops. Her favorite thing to do was taking day trips and fishing with Robert. She absolutely loved reading books, hosting, and helping with garage sales, loved being on the water, gardening, and simply being outdoors. She and Robert were always on the go, taking their road trips either up the coast of Maine, to the beaches, to the mountains, the lakes, and everywhere they could, just so they could be together, doing all of the things that they loved doing together. She was a huge spots fan, and followed all teams and all sports, even knowing all of the players' names. She loved to cook and loved to take care of Robert.
Joann is predeceased by her parents Howard and Florence, her brother Scott Githens, and her stepson Robert Colwell II.
Joann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Colwell; her stepchildren Elizabeth Colwell, Douglass Colwell, and Derek Colwell; her grandchildren Brenden, Blake, Jordan, Cali, Isabelle, Peter, Gavin, and Derek John; her great-grandchildren Bailey and Brynnleigh; as well as many other family members and friends who were honored to be a part of her life. Shew as the most beautiful person to so many.
Joann is in the care of Tasker Funeral Home in Dover, New Hampshire. There are no services planned at this time, but the family asks that you please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in Joann's honor.
