JoAnn Greene passed away peacefully at her home on Lake Ogemaw on March 5, 2026, with her husband of thirty years by her side.
The daughter of the late William Thomas and Emily Gwendolyn Neely Steele, JoAnn was born and raised in Clarksburg, WV, where she graduated from high school.
In 1989, while employed by Allied Chemical in Ironton, Ohio, JoAnn met Daniel Greene, then an associate chiropractor working across the river in Ashland, KY where they both lived.
JoAnn and Daniel married on March 24, 1996, in West Bloomfield. Together they created D.E. Greene Family Chiropractic in Prescott, MI. For twenty-five years, JoAnn was the "office overseer" who not only managed the day-to-day business but also offered a listening ear to Daniel's patients. Energetic and personable, JoAnn loved to be around people. Known for her kindness and concern, she was an integral part of the care team.
Outside of their time working together, JoAnn and Daniel loved traveling, especially to sunny locations. At home, they enjoyed boating on Lake Ogemaw and attending concerts together. JoAnn loved gardening and often spent hours tending her plants. A very giving person, JoAnn supported a variety of charities, both local and beyond.
When her health declined, Daniel and JoAnn managed the changes together at home. Recently, Deanna Coburn helped with JoAnn's day-to-day care. Daniel is grateful to Deanna, whose kindness made the last few weeks tolerable.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Greene; son, Jeffrey (Diana) White; grandchildren, Joshua (Lisa) White, Sadie Loan, and Luke (Olivia) White; great-grandchildren Kolton Gustin, Olive and Graham Loan, Malachi and Judah White; and her sister, Janet Bond of Evans, GA. JoAnn is also survived by brothers-in-law, Steve (Meryl) Greene, Ken (Daryl) Greene, Eric Greene; as well as nieces and nephews, Gavriella Abraham and family, Ben Greene and family, Naomi Norman and family, Dovid Greene, Alexander (Shelby) Greene, Kara (Neil) Rodnicl and daughter, Jordy, Hannah (Alec) Moore.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Emily Gwendolyn Neely Steele; and her sisters, Phyllis Steele and Rachel Collins.
A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 East Harrison Street, Prescott, MI. Viewing will be held from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Mills Township Cemetery. The Reverend Laura J. Bender officiating.
