Joann Jachowicz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home - Framingham on Mar. 28, 2026.
In Loving Memory

Joann Jachowicz

August 12th 1954 - March 27th 2026

Joann Jachowicz, age 71, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Framingham, Joann was the daughter of Phyllis and Bob Jachowicz and She was the third of six children in a large, dynamic family. . She was the third of six children and grew up on Freeman Street near downtown Framingham. Joann attended Framingham Public Schools, forming lifelong friendships at the Lawrence Street School, where she was a student from 1960 to 1965, and later attended Keefe Technical School.

In her early years, Joann wore a cast for hip dysplasia, which affected her gait throughout her life, but never diminished her spirit. She loved celebrations of all kinds and always looked forward to holidays-especially her birthday. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing along to her records or with her father as he played the ukulele. Her musical tastes were wide-ranging, with favorites including Frank Sinatra, Prince, and The Beatles.

During the Bruins' heyday, Joann was an avid hockey fan, especially of Bobby Orr. She loved to read-often out loud-and had an exceptional memory, recalling countless details about the people and things she loved. One treasured possession was a papier-mâché sculpture of Bobby Orr's head, lovingly made by her father, which she proudly kept in her room. She also cherished time spent with her grandparents, Joseph and Emily Jachowicz.

Joann had a remarkable gift for conversation and was a true master of small talk. She could strike up a conversation with anyone-and often did. Those who knew her well will fondly remember her mischievous sense of humor and her delight in playfully teasing others.

She worked for many years at Staples, retiring in July 2012. Joann had her favorites and wasn't shy about them-whether it was her preferred restaurants, carefully planned around holidays, or beloved movies she watched again and again, including Stitch, Purple Rain, Star Wars, and WALL-E. She took great pride in her apartment and was a devoted Boston sports fan, especially of the Celtics, and a loyal Dunkin' enthusiast.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Advocates for their tireless care and dedication to improving Joann's life and comfort. She had many caretakers over the years and Donations in her memory may be made to Advocates Inc., Worcester Road, Framingham, MA.

A graveside service will be held on April 24th at 11:00 AM at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.
