JoAnn Mann Davis Walcott of San Angelo, Texas, passed away February 27th, surrounded by the comfort and love of her family. Born July 4th, 1933, in Lawton, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Hobart and Ruth (King) Mann.
During her childhood, JoAnn was happiest spending summers with her cousins at her beloved Aunt Maude and Uncle Curtis Bruner's farm. After high school, JoAnn literally married 'the boy next door', Lincoln Davis Sr. During their marriage, they were stationed at numerous Air Force bases including Savannah, Ga., Plattsburgh, NY., Anchorage, Ak., ultimately landing at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, where JoAnn made her permanent home for over 60 years. During those years, JoAnn worked at Landers' Automotive overseeing Accounts Receivable and Payable and at Baptist Memorial as an Administrative Assistant. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Charles Walcott Sr.
Throughout her life, JoAnn had an enthusiastic passion for antiques, which she inherited from her mother. That passion began with JoAnn assisting with her mother's growing antique business in Lawton, Oklahoma. After JoAnn's retirement from Landers' Automotive, her passion for antiques continued and she enjoyed many years owning her own antique business where she was happiest hunting for and buying and selling beautiful antiques.
JoAnn also had a love of nature and gardening but her greatest passion was for her close friends for whom she was so grateful and loved dearly. She was a wonderful conversationalist, an even better listener and will always be remembered for her wisdom, grace, classic style and wonderful sense of humor. Her loss will be deeply felt by her family and all those who loved her.
JoAnn will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Lincoln (Karen) Davis, Victoria Davis (Donald) Diffey, Marcia Davis Herald and Charles (Helen) Walcott; her grandchildren, Jeremiah (Janet) Davis, Sarah (Alex) Slack; Tifani (Michael) Winkfield, Amanda Woodrow (Christopher Long), Jacob Pate (Sarah Troxell); Josiah, Emma, Ezra, Miriam and Weston Walcott. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Samantha and Savannah Davis and Aryia Winkfield. Also, extended family members Ronnie and Phyllis Walcott, and their children Laura, Kristi, Dennette and Michael, were very important to JoAnn.
Heartfelt appreciation is extended by the family to thank the caring hospice staff at West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Hospice of San Angelo and the Hospice Brazos Valley staff for their compassionate care of JoAnn in her final days. And a very special thank you to her caregiver, Norma, with Visiting Angels in San Angelo.
During a private ceremony, JoAnn's family will scatter her ashes in the Hill Country. A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held at Harper Funeral Home in the spring, arrangements pending.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Al-Anon Family Groups, 1917 W. Avenue N., San Angelo, Texas, 76904, or to the charity of your choice.
