Joann M. (Farneti) Newman, 73, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Mary Farneti and her brother, Artie. Joann is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Newman; her son, Terry Mcnerney Jr.; her sister, Renee Hillegas; her grandsons, Zachary (Tiffany) and Patrick Mcnerney; her great grandson, Declan; her niece, Liza (Connor) Hillegas and nephews, Mitchell (Lauren) Hillegas, and Jeremy Burch; and her great nieces and nephews, Claire, Matthew and Chase.
Joann was a 1970 graduate of Binghamton North High School and earned her Associates Degree from Onondaga Community College. She was employed by SUNY Upstate Medical University where she worked as an office manager for many years. Joann loved watching Syracuse basketball. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in Joann's honor to The National MS Society or Helping Hounds Dog Rescue in Syracuse, NY.
