Mrs. JoAnn (Johnson) Oldland, 89, of Uniontown, PA., passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
She was born in Apopka, Florida on December 16, 1935, to the late Doc and Minnie Lou (Overstreet) Johnson.
Her family moved to Portsmouth, Virginia, when she was five years old. She later attended Woodrow Wilson High School and worked as an assistant manager and sign printer for W.T. Grants.
On April 10, 1955, Easter Sunday, JoAnn met the love of her life, Harry, a marine stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. They married on March 23, 1956.
JoAnn lovingly took on the role of both mother and father to her four children while Harry served our country for 20 years with the United States Marine Corps.
After Harry's retirement in 1970, the family moved to Uniontown, PA. JoAnn resumed her role as assistant manager and sign printer at Gee Bee's Department Store and later worked for the film developing company Photo Corral.
As grandchildren began arriving, JoAnn (Mimi) chose to stay home and lovingly care for them while their parents worked.
JoAnn is a member of Christ Methodist Church, an avid reader and gardener, and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing Rummy 500, Backgammon and Cribbage with Harry-scorepads filled with wins and losses were tucked away as cherished memories. JoAnn was proud of her Southern heritage and admired by many for her gracious hospitality. Anyone who came to her house had to leave with something from her pantry.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Harry Jr.; daughter Cynthia Jo (Dan) Webster of Uniontown, PA; daughter Cheryl Ann Beyer of Jupiter, FL; son Harry Ill (LeslieAnn) of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter Elizabeth Faye (Mario) Piccolomini of Uniontown, PA; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers-Oswald, Russell, and Billy-and sisters: Opal, Colleen Elizabeth, and Georgia Faye.
JoAnn's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Uniontown Hospital-WVU Medicine, Mt. Macrina Manor Rehabilitation, Visiting Angels, Amedisys Physical/Occupational Therapy, and the Amedisys Hospice staff for the exceptional care and support provided to JoAnn and her loved ones. Your kindness and professionalism have been deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA where family and friends will be received on Sunday, August 24th from 3 until 7 p.m. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Monday August 25th from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a service celebrating JoAnn's life at 11:00 AM with Rev.
