Joann Elizabeth Parkulo, 73, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 following a short illness.

Born March 11, 1943 in Beckley, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thorton “Buster” Redden and Katie Martin Redden. Mrs. Parkulo was a member of Bradley Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, reading her Bible, witnessing to people, being with her family and was an avid animal lover. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1961 and worked as a nurse at Raleigh Regional Cancer Center.

In addition her to parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Namen Redden.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 55 years, John Parkulo Jr of Leland, NC; son, Craig Parkulo and wife Tuy of Midland, NC; daughter, Sherrie Arthur and husband Greg of Waxhaw, NC; brother, David Redden of Bradley; sister, Patty Farley of Leland, NC; grandchildren, Alex, Jason and Elizabeth Parkulo, and John and Mark Arthur.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 1-2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 2pm, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Pennington officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family and friends to serve as pallbearers.
