JoAnn Morton Rozier, 75, of Durham passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Rozier was born on September 25, 1950, in Durham to the late William Ovid and Lucy Keith Morton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rozier is predeceased by her sisters, Betty Brown, and Lucy O’Neal; father-in-law, Ted Rozier; mother-in-law, Joyce Rozier; and brother-in-law, Randall Rozier.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Amos Rozier; sons, Roger Medlin and wife Amy of Timberlake; Gerald Medlin of Rougemont and girlfriend Chrissy; grandchildren, Jennifer Medlin (Ron Shaw), Ashley Vickrey (Tate), Daisey Medlin and Tyler Medlin; great grandchildren, Landon Vickrey, Layla Shaw, Rhett Vickrey, Ronnie Shaw, Daniella Medlin and London Villines; brothers, Sam Morton and wife Carolyn of Stem, and Carlyle Morton of Roxboro; sisters, Wilma Garner of Durham, Mary Roberts and husband Danny of Durham, and Linda Smith of Texas; sisters-in-law, Peggy Thompson and husband Eddie, Regina Tyner, Cathy Grimsley, Linda Branch, Jeanine Lawson; brother-in-law, Darryl Rozier (Misty).
JoAnn lived her life to the fullest, embracing every moment with love, laughter, and gratitude. She cherished her family and friends deeply, finding her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her days were often spent with a warm cup of coffee in hand, watching hummingbirds flutter by. She loved the beauty of the mountains in the fall and the peace of the beach in the warmer months. JoAnn had a passion for good music, good food, and good company. She loved playing Bingo when possible. She retired from Northern Telecom (later Nortel) after many years of dedicated service and was a faithful and active member of Freedom Baptist Church in Durham.
A visitation will be held on Friday October 24, 2025, beginning and 12:30 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Glenn Davis.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Active Pallbearers will be Tyler Medlin, Ron Shaw, Tate Vickrey, Landon Vickrey, Rhett Vickrey, and Donnie Cole.
Flowers are acceptable.
