Joann entered her heavenly home on January 17, 2026. She was born on May 15, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Grunder) Frederick. She married John Williston on June 20, 1964, and they had two children, John B. (Heather Taylor) and Jennifer Ann Williston. Joann was a graduate of Pennfield Dunlap High School in 1961 and attended Kellogg Community College. She started working for Vern DeYoung and Ike Mellema at EPI while in high school. Later she worked for DPL Advertising, Kal-Aero, and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, from which she retired in January 2005.
Joann was an expert seamstress and enjoyed flowers and gardening and was an excellent cook. When her health was good, she enjoyed getting together with friends. She loved her children and especially enjoyed any time she could see or talk with her grandson, Lincoln. She also loved her kitty Boo.
Joann was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Sandra Heath; daughter, Jenny (March 12, 2017); and her ex-husband, John. She is survived by her son John and his wife Heather Taylor; grandson, Lincoln; step-grandson, Zachery Lollar; and brother, Steve Frederick.
There will be no services and a private burial will take place at Hicks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Froggies Pond, 3070 W Michigan Ave, Battle Creek, MI 49017, the American Cancer Society and/or the ASPCA.
