Joanne Demi, 89 of Saint Johns Florida, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, after a long journey with dementia. She faced her struggle with strength and an unbreakable spirit.
Joanne was born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to George and Lulu Roberts. She later married Jay Demi and settled in Toms River, New Jersey to raise her three sons. When the boys were old enough, she returned to one of most fulfilling roles, that of teaching special needs children and elementary education.
She is remembered for her faith, love of dogs, cooking and family. There are many great memories of extended family gatherings at the Jersey shore.
She is survived by her sons Michael, Thomas (Lori) and James (Jessie), grandchildren Brittiany, Ann and Jack, and great grandchildren Brianne, Jaden and Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Westminster Woods, who took wonderful care of her for 13 years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9 at 11AM at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church, Fruit Cove, Florida.
