Joanne Stackpole Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 4, 2025.
Joanne Martha Mitchell Stackpole passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025 with her dear friend and caregiver, Lori St Amand by her side at St Andres Health Care.

Joanne was born to Margaret and Harold Mitchell in N.B. Canada on December 19, 1933.

She attended schools in Woodland, ME and Cape Elizabeth, ME graduating from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1952.

She married Jerry Stackpole on April 25, 1953. Together they had 3 children.

She was employed by the US Coast Guard Exchange for 22 years.

She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and The Celtics on TV and at the Boston Garden and Fenway. She loved reading, knitting, water aerobics, traveling with friends and her daughter Michelle. She and Michelle travelled to Hawaii and Ireland twice. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.

She enjoyed going to coffee at McDonalds with a group of friends. She also belonged to a "girls club" for many years.

When her health started to fail in 2016, two of her dearest friends, Lori St Amand and Julie Brown, stepped up to make sure Joanne got the love and care needed to live in her house independently for as long as she could. Neighbors Charlotte Lebeda and her daughter Theresa also made sure they were available if Joanne needed anything.

Besides her parents and her brother Peter, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry, her twin sons Timothy and Tommy, and her daughter Michelle.

She was a communicant of St Bartholomew Church.

There will be no visiting hours, just a private burial.
