Joanne Marie Steirer

Joanne Marie Steirer, age 88, passed away September 2, 2025, with her family at her side. She was born on June 2, 1937, in Cleveland to the late Peter P. and Julie A. (Hanisch) Gershak. Joanne worked for Old Phoenix Bank, and later First Merit, in various positions and locations, retiring as an assistant manager after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for almost 65 years. Joanne enjoyed gardening, antiques and crafts-attending the Yankee Peddler Festival, and was a Cleveland sports fan. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children Terri (Larry) Lika, Joseph (Rebel) Steirer, David (Joann) Steirer; her cherished grandchildren Natalie, Leah, Simon, Victor, Oliviana, Jonah, Aiden, Adriana, Lukas (Halle), Gabriel and Oliver; her brother David Gershak; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of collected friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Victor Steirer in 2017; her parents; and her sisters Carole Horansky, Pat Balansz and Judy Forline.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina, OH 44256. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
