JoAnne Torres Obituary
JoAnne Torres, 83, of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on April 22, 2025, in the Grand Islander Nursing Center.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Butler) Comiskey.
JoAnne embarked on a successful career as a claims adjuster for AETNA Insurance, where her meticulous and organized nature shone brightly. Beyond her professional achievements, JoAnne found her greatest joy in the moments spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life. She cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother, always finding time to nurture their spirits and create lasting memories.
A woman of great heart, JoAnne volunteered her time with hospice organizations in Rhode Island, exemplifying her caring nature and commitment to helping others during their most challenging moments.
JoAnne is survived by her children: Stephen (Pamela) Torres, of Portsmouth, Jay (Annette Venuti) Torres, of Mays Landing, NJ, her sisters: Jude (Kevin) Krupa, of Portsmouth, Jayne (Davy) Cestodio, of Swansea, MA, Jennifer Ferreira, of Swansea, MA, her grandchildren: Jayson Torres, Melissa Torres, Matthew Torres, Kyle Torres, Lucas Torres, and her great-grandchildren: Mason Torres, Ava Torres, Kaiden Johnson, Mia Johnson, Zayn Johnson, Sailynn Torres. She additionally leaves many nieces and nephews, and a plethora of family and friends who loved her.
In addition to her parents, JoAnne is preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Comiskey and Jeffrey Comiskey.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
Memorial Services and Burial will be private.
