With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joaquin M Fiol, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community. Joaquin left this world on May 30, 2023, leaving behind a
legacy of love, resilience, and family.
Joaquin was born on January 15, 1933, in Santiago de Cuba, where he was raised with a strong sense of family values and a determination to positively impact the world. In 1955, he embarked on a lifelong
journey of love and partnership when he married Maria de Los Angeles Piñeiro. Their union was one of unwavering devotion, companionship, shared dreams, and accomplishments.
Joaquin became a dentist in Cuba in 1955 and embarked on a lifelong career in Dentistry, and Maria became an optometrist. Their lives in Cuba were rich and productive. In 1957 Joaquin was born, followed by Alejandro in 1960 and Maurice in 1963, after leaving Cuba.
In 1961, Joaquin and Maria made the difficult decision to escape from communist Cuba, leaving behind family and loved ones seeking a better life and greater opportunities. After landing in Miami, Joaquin found
work as a dentist in Welch, West Virginia. He moved his young family there for a year before moving permanently to New York. With courage and determination to obtain his license to practice dentistry, Joaquin was required to complete his dental education a second time at New York University's School of Dentistry, except this time, in English. His dedication to his craft, gentle demeanor, and genuine care for his patients allowed him to establish a thriving dental practice in Queens, NY, for 40 years, earning him the respect and admiration of those he served.
Joaquin's love for his family was immeasurable. He was a devoted father to his three sons, Joaquin, Alejandro, and Maurice, and his love extended to his grandchildren as well. He leaves behind a legacy
of warmth, guidance, and unconditional love that will forever shape their lives.
He is survived by his three sons, Joaquin Enrique, Alejandro, Maurice, and his seven grandchildren, Sarah, Aidan, Olivia, Cristina, Aden, Gabriel and Devin. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he took immense joy in watching them grow and flourish.
Joaquin's presence and love will be deeply missed. Still, his memory will live on through his family and the cherished moments they shared together. His resolute support, wisdom, and kindness will forever be
remembered and carried forward by those whose lives he touched.
May Joaquin's soul find eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the love and support of those around them during this difficult time.
