Jochen "Jack" Würfl

On October 8, 2025, Jochen "Jack " Wurfl, beloved husband of the late Zonia Rosa Wurfl; devoted father of Odette Margaret James and her husband David, Dana Jenine Carroll and her husband Tom, and Lisa Jacqueline Wurfl and her husband Michael; loving grandfather of Gabrielle Jaclyn Carroll, Thomas Robert Carroll, Gillian Jade Roeca and Aidan Jack Roeca; dear brother of the late Peter Wurfl also survived by loving caregiver and family member Nohemy Hernandez.

Jack lived an incredibly accomplished life. He detailed his journey of life in his autobiography, My Two Lives, published in 2023. The "first life," details the upbringing of a young boy who lost his parents in the Holocaust and then survives the Nazi Regime, coming to America at age 17 with his older brother, Peter.

The "second life" follows his early adulthood and later life in the US. After a short stay in New York, Jack made his way to Baltimore where he immediately went to work. His professional career started with an office job at an insurance company. He took a hiatus from insurance when drafted by the US Army, where he served in Europe with the 1st Infantry Division. He was selected to the Division's Honor Guard for the 10th Anniversary of D-Day and later was honorably discharged as a Corporal.

Upon his return to the States, he married in 1956, started his family in 1957 and in 1969, founded Diversified Insurance Industries, Inc. At his passing, he was still active in the business as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Under his leadership, he built DII into one of the largest and most successful independently owned insurance agencies in the US. While Jack was a great business man, he was also a golfer, fisherman, boat captain, pilot, traveler, race horse owner, friend, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and in his last 3 months he became an Austrian again. He was deeply admired and respected in the insurance industry and by all the many people he touched throughout his incredible life.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025 at 10 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 200 Ware Avenue, Towson, Maryland 21204, followed by Inurnment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a Celebration of Life at Baltimore Country Club , Roland Park Location, 4712 Club Road, Baltimore, Md. on November 26 at 12 PM.
