Dearest Jodi: I will always keep talking about you today, in a month, in a year, and forever – because you deserve to be remembered. I wish you could have seen yourself through my eyes – your big heart, your kind soul, your strength, and your unlimited compassion for all those around you. You were an amazing listener. You asked for so little and had expectations for even less, but you gave so much.
Our daily calls and texts will leave a big hole in my life. Those chats were nothing earth-shaking, and often were about the crazy commute, what was on sale this week at the grocery store, or recipes we had discovered that we wanted to share with each other.
You loved animals. I remember like it was yesterday when we took you to pick out your first puppy from a litter of golden retrievers. You chose Tori because she was the only puppy with a crooked tail.
Somewhere down the road I fully expected you to become a chef or a baker because of how much you loved to bake and cook, and you really liked trying different combinations of ingredients outside of the normal recipe.
Your family and friends will deeply miss you. Many, many people have shared their fond memories of you as a little girl and as a young woman. You were feisty, strong-willed and always quick to share some laughter.
I understand more fully now that every single day has been a tremendous struggle for you.
Guide me towards a place of healing, where one day I can look back on this time of loss with peace and acceptance. I ask that you fill me with joy as I honor the memory of my daughter, cherishing her life, and celebrating the precious moments she shared with me. Love You, Mom
