Jody Anne Vaught

Jody Anne (Maddox) Vaught, 71, of Springville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2025, at home.

Jody was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joe and Patricia (Lane) Maddox, on June 2, 1954. After graduating from Thorntown High School, Thorntown, Indiana in 1972, she immediately moved to Bloomington, Indiana to start the next chapter of her life with beloved Wayne. Her career began that summer as a secretary in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University (IU). Over the years, she received several promotions culminating with her last position as Director of Business Affairs and Budget for the Indiana University School of Public Health. During her time at IU she also served on the Bloomington Professional Staff Council. Jody retired in June of 2021 after 49 years of service.

Jody was known for her unwavering dedication to the School of Public Health and forged many lifelong friendships along the way. Even after retirement she continued to see those friends and colleagues on a regular basis. Everyone knew Jody!

But her favorite "job" of all was being Mamaw to her four amazing grandchildren. She was always present, willing to help, and never said no. She cherished every moment with them and will be deeply missed. In fact, there isn't a single person that Jody met that wasn't touched in a wonderfully positive way. She didn't have to be asked to help, she was just there and knew what to do - always with her big, beautiful smile.

Jody was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Barbara Vaught. She is survived by her father, Joe Maddox, husband, Wayne, daughters, Buffie Vaught and Brandy (Jon) Albano, and grandchildren Samantha Albano, Abigail Albano, Daniel Albano, and Cora Mink. She is also survived by her sister, Diana (Rick) Dupree, and brothers, Dennis (Tracy) Maddox, Mike (Debbie) Maddox, and Joe (Lori) Maddox as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and numerous cousins.

Jody will forever be remembered for her kindness and smile, infectious personality, and sincere love for her family and friends. Her laughter and thoughtfulness were true gifts to everyone who knew her.

The funeral will be held at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, Indiana on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Visitation is 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm.
