The memorial service for Joe R. Bledsoe, age 89, of Farwell, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Muleshoe, Texas, with Pastor Jeff Coffman officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico.
Joe Bledsoe, born December 15, 1936, in McComb, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Gladys (Calico) Bledsoe, entered eternity to be with his Savior on Monday, January 26, 2026. He lived a long and fruitful life. He married Vera Gibson in Clovis, New Mexico, on September 7, 1990. They were married for nearly twenty-five years before she passed in 2015.
During his life, Joe was a man of many talents, jobs, and hobbies. He could cut hair and call bids; sell insurance and bargain for a good deal at a garage sale. You might find him lending a hand to someone in need, in his knife shop, watching a Dallas Cowboys game, or in his furniture store, playing his guitar. He loved music, even serving as a song leader at different churches throughout his life. He dearly loved his Savior and wanted everyone to know the goodness of the Lord. Joe was naturally outgoing, and when it came to Christ, he made sure that everyone knew they needed Jesus as their personal Savior.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Vera; daughter, Joanna Lyn Thompson; sister, Martha Sue Donham; and two grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his three sons, Keith Bledsoe and wife, Elizabeth Rose of Moriarty, New Mexico, Darian Bledsoe and wife, Hong Liu of Farwell, Texas; and Mike Brewer and wife, Stephanie of Cartersville, Georgia; daughter, Debbie Underwood of Yukon, Oklahoma; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
