Joe Bunn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schutte-Grau Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Clermont on Dec. 3, 2025.
Joe Raymond Bunn, 63, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Arlington, Iowa. Joe was born on May 14, 1962, in West Union, Iowa, to Paul and Janet (Nus) Bunn. He grew up in West Union and graduated from North High School in 1980.

Joe was married twice, and during his second marriage he welcomed his two sons, Jarrod and Jordan. Being a father was one of Joe's greatest joys. He immersed himself in his sons' lives, supporting their interests, cheering them on, and creating countless memories. He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Joe's favorite title was "Papa Joe," and nothing lit up his face more than time with his family.

Joe received his first drum set on his first birthday and never stopped playing. Music was a lifelong thread in his story-he spent many years as both the drummer and lead singer in a band, always ready to reminisce about those days. He had a deep passion for music, especially Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd.

One of Joe's greatest joys was owning and operating The Valhalla Bar and Supper Club in Clermont, Iowa. He thrived on staying social, visiting with customers, and bringing people together. Joe was the kind of person who would help anyone in any way he could-offering a hand, a joke, or a warm conversation whenever it was needed most.

Joe's interests were endless-he was truly a jack of all trades who loved staying busy. He enjoyed cheering (and sometimes crying) for his beloved Minnesota Vikings, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places whenever he could.

Joe shared his life with his partner, Sara Hoisington. Together they loved traveling, attending concerts, and experiencing new adventures. Joe embraced Sara's daughter, Lilly McIntyre, from the very beginning.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Janet Bunn, as well as close friends, Alan Caldwell (AC), Terry Gunther, Jeff Blue, and Tina Brown. He is survived by his sons Jarrod (Kori) of Urbandale, IA, and Jordan (Holly) of Girard, IL; his beloved grandchildren Pandora, Halen, and Ajax; his partner Sara and her daughter, Lilly; and his brother Doug (Laura Rossen) Bunn.

Joe was eccentric, passionate, intentional, and deeply loving. He had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met. To know Joe was truly to love him. He offered the warmest hugs, accepted others without judgment, and carried peace and love with him wherever he went. His presence touched many lives, and he will be profoundly missed. SKOL!
