Joe Coates Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Coates, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 12 PM at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, 1600 Lovett Road in East Dublin. Reverend Issac Lawson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Lovett Mission Cemetery.
Mr. Coates was born to the late Virgil and Mattie Mae Coates. He was born on Tuesday, July 8, 1941, in Emanuel County, Georgia.
Mr. Coates retired from the BASF Chalk Mine in McIntyre. He also worked for Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Brown Chapel Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman Deacon. He enjoyed fishing and growing things. Deacon Coates loved his family.
On Monday, May 29, 2023, Deacon Joe Coates departed this life. He was preceded in death by three children, Javis Coates, Sammy Coates, Johnny Coates, and siblings, Emanuel Coates, Willene Milles and Reverend Jack Coates.
Deacon Coates is survived by his wife, Frankie Graham Coates, siblings, Mattie Redfern, Effie (Dwight) McRae, Claxie Southern, all of Douglasville, Curtis (Darlene) Coates of Macon, Leroy (Della) Coates, Essie (Marty) Tredwell, all of Dublin, Doretha Leak, Virgil (Bonnie) Coates of Danbury, Connecticut, Clemmie McElrath of Danbury, Connecticut, Pearlene (David) Graham of Wingdale, New York, step-children, Stacy (Charles) Murray,, and Debra Barnes of Dublin, Connie Autery of Polk City, Florida, Gregory Barnes and Franklin (Joyce) Barnes of Winter Haven, Florida, grandchildren, Johnny Coates, Jr., of Columbus, Angelica Coates of Columbus, Meaushia Chartea Coates (Shawn) Hill of Dublin, Tyrus Raines of Augusta, and Javis Lydell Coates, II, of Colorado, great-grandchild, Alexander Kalani Hill, and a host of other relatives.

My Condolences to the family.
Deacon Coates, you will be greatly missed, and I'm so happy I was able you see you last summer. I will miss our talks and your words of wisdom . Thank you for always being there for my family. Thank you for loving us and when you weren't feeling your best you still made time to talk with me in your final moments. I'll keep my promise that I made to you in our last conversation. I pray that you'll rest in peace. I'll always love you tell the the rest of the family hello and let them know I miss them.
