Joe Dal Cagle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhone Funeral Home on Nov. 29, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Joe Dal Cagle, of Palestine, Texas, left this world on Thursday, the 27th day of November 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on the 13th day of September 1945 in Valley Mills, Texas, to the late Jodie Cagle and Gracie Bass Cagle. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beth Hurbrough and Ruth Cagle, brothers Billy Cagle, and Ray Cagle, and his brothers-in-law, Dub Brewton and Earl Fletcher.

Joe leaves behind his devoted wife, Irma Cagle; daughter, Regina Cagle of Dallas, Texas; sons, Kevyn Cagle of Dallas, Texas, Jonathan Cagle and wife Peyton of Tennessee, and Raul Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Melissa of Harlingen, Texas; sister, Mary Brewton; and his grandchildren, Skylar Cagle, Zachary Cagle, and Micheal Buckley. Joe will also be missed by his other family members and many friends.

Joe's dedication to his country was evident through his honorable service in both the United States Air Force and the Army. His patriotism and valor were the cornerstones of his character, shaping the man who would later serve his community with equal fervor as a police officer in Beaumont, Texas, head of security in Louisiana, deputy in Mississippi County, Arkansas, and Chief of Police in Manila, Arkansas. His retirement from law enforcement was not an end but a transition to new adventures that would further define his remarkable legacy.

A man of faith, Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. His zest for life was contagious, and he loved to indulge in the simple pleasure of drinking coffee, a ritual that no doubt fueled his many passions. An avid wood carver, fisherman and his love for the outdoors was matched only by his creative spirit.

A man of many talents, Joe was an accomplished author, pouring his soul into the pages of what would become a quartet of novels. On the golf course, he was as much a strategist as he was a sportsman. But it was in the rhythm of river dancing, Scottish and Irish, that Joe's heart truly soared. The music that accompanied his dancing was often like that of his own making, as he was a skilled violinist whose melodies could stir the soul.

To speak of Joe Cagle is to speak of a life lived with purpose and passion. He was courageous, wellspring of knowledge, and a heart filled with love. His legacy is not one of sorrow but of motivation, urging us all to live fully, love deeply, and dance to the rhythm of our own hearts.

Funeral services to honor Joe Cagle's life are to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 5th day of December 2025 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Barry Roberts officiating the service. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at a later date in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.
