Joe Lawrence Dearing passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at his home in Pearl. He was 87 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, and again from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Garden of Memories in Florence.
Mr. Joe was born to Jessie Dearing and Vinnie Houston Dearing on July 2, 1935, in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He attended Eastside Baptist Church in Pearl. Mr. Joe loved fishing, hunting, and cutting grass. He loved the fishing camp "Cane Creek". Joe loved to build things for any and everybody. He was always working and doing things for others. He was a hard worker and provider for his family. He was a truck driver for 18+ years. Joe was one of the founding members of Central Mississippi CB'ers Club. He loved his CB base station and loved to talk to people all over. He was known as "Po Joe" on the CB radio.
Mr. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Bobby and Marzell; 1 sister; Jean and 1 granddaughter, Hannah Skye. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dean Dearing of Pearl; children; Greg Dearing of Meridian, Lisa McKeithen (Jill Ziemski) of Jericho, Vermont, Lyn McKeithen (Debbie Alexander) of Florence, Charles McKeithen (Laurie) of Stedman, NC, Barry Dearing (Michelle Bell) of Meridian, and Teresa Mock (Gary) of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren; Casey Mock, Trace Mock, Karlie Mock, Josh Saari, Ben Saari, Samuel McKeithen, Greg Dearing Jr., Bo Dearing, Darren Dearing, and Courtney Mae Dearing; great grandchildren; Charlotte, Layla, Laney, Zoe, Gracie, Lily, Isaac, Colton, Ava, Marshall, McKenzie, Eli, Carson and Brooklyn; niece; Carol Crowley; and sister-in-law; Mary Dearing.
