Joe Loyd Duncan, age 84, of Oneida, TN, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. Born December 29, 1940, in Oneida, Scott County, TN, he was the son of the late Rev. Luther and Gertie Acres Duncan. Joe was a faithful member of the Salem United Baptist Church; he served in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard; and he worked as a truck driver and in logging.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Charlotte Hensley Duncan; siblings: brothers: James Duncan, Melbert Akers, and David Duncan; sisters: Sue Staten, Easter Toler and Lynn Fornash; nieces and nephews: Joey Bond, Jeff Kidd, James 'Bubby' Holt, Linda Fornash and Junior Akers.
Joe is survived by his children: daughter: Pamela Pruett; sons: Bobby Staten and family, and Cary Staten and family; grandchild: J. D. Pruett; brother: Joshua Duncan; sisters: Ann Kidd, June Toomey, and Mary Hall; special friend: Rev. Jennings Terry; as well as many other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Duncan family on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Burchfield, Bro. Jeff Dyer, and Bro. Jennings Terry.
Committal service will follow in the Wilhite Cemetery in the Buffalo Community with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
