Joe Ann Fulgham, 84, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Henry Ford St. Johns Ascension Hospital. Born on March 1, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama. The family is heartbroken by her unexpected passing. She will forever be remembered and cherished as an outstanding wife, mother, sister, and friend. Joe Ann graduated from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1958. After graduating, she married Milton Major Woods and moved to
Flint, Michigan, where she began her career. Out of their union came two children, Shauna and Javier. Her dedication and hard work led her to a fulfilling career at Consumers Energy, where she earned several promotions and retired early at age 56 in 1996. Her creative talents extended across many areas, including sewing, flower arrangements, stained glass, cross-stitching, crocheting, and cooking. Above all, sewing held a special place in her heart. She learned this craft from her mother and passed it down to her daughter. Joe Ann was known as an expert seamstress, and her skill with a needle and thread made her sought after by a loyal clientele. She was especially noted for creating one-of-a-kind outfits that captured the hearts of all who saw them. Joe Ann possessed a peaceful nature and always exemplified integrity. She devoted her time, money, and wisdom to building up her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was true to her word and never broke a commitment. She carried herself with pride, dignity, and excellence. Together with her second husband, William Fulgham, Joe Ann built a life rooted in love and faith in Jesus Christ. They also built a successful real estate business, acquiring and managing 14 properties that were always maintained to above-average standards. Fulgham's Properties earned the respect of their tenants, who knew their housing needs would always be met. Additionally, Joe Ann and William owned a carpet cleaning company, servicing both residential homes and business offices. As a loving couple, they worked side by side to achieve something greater than what could have been accomplished alone. Joe Ann is survived by her children: Shauna Stevenson and Milton Javier Woods (Lois); her siblings: Milo Battle (Van), Judy Cobb (Bill), Kaye Daniels (Ernie), and Alfred Dye (Anita); two bonus daughters: Denise Hairston (Benny) and Demetrius Green; grandchildren: Kyle Knight, Zachary William Morgan Robinson, David Solomon Green, Broie-Christian Orr, and Emerald Woods; sisters-in-law: Bessie Mae Jackson and Liz Neely, and a host of nieces and nephews.
